This is an amazing, yet almost frightening, story in the New York Times. A family offered their farm to those who wish to glean the fields of potatoes, leeks, and carrots, but were caught off guard when approximately 11, 000 vehicles lined the roads and filled the field the first day.

If so many people got excited about free veggies, why don’t people get just as excited about fresh local produce that must be paid for?
